Gemotions

The attic felt suffocating. The air was heavy, the silence oppressive. She wasn't sure why she had decided to come up here. Maybe she'd thought it would be therapeutic, a way to connect with the past owners. Instead, a wave of nausea washed over her.

She found a collection of old photographs, their edges brittle and faded. She picked one up, her fingers trembling. A group of people posed for the camera, all smiling. She saw them then, in the corner, staring back at her.

The room seemed to shrink. She dropped the photo, a sob catching in her throat. Her gaze darted around frantically, searching for an escape. She fled.
